Generally you can differ between:
1. Rung ladders, the most important types are:
  1. One-piece leaning ladders
  2. Two- or three-piece extension ladders or rope-operated extension ladders (as leaning ladder)
  3. Two-piece multipurpose ladders (as leaning or free-standing ladder)
  4. Three-piece multipurpose ladders (as leaning or free-standing ladder)
  5. Three-piece multipurpose ladders with stair function
  6. Hinged multipurpose ladders in different executions
  7. Telescopic ladders in different executions
2. Step ladders, the most important types are:
  1. Unilaterally ascendable standing step ladders in different executions
