KRAUSE MONTO folding steps – compact access aids for frequent use

Folding steps are compact access aids for working at low heights. With a maximum working height of up to one metre, they bridge the gap between working at floor level and using traditional ladders. They are used wherever safe access, a stable footing and quick availability are more important than great working heights or expansive structures. They really come into their own in the home, for DIY and in trades-related activities. They are ready for use in no time, easy to transport and can be stored in a space-saving manner.

Anodised KRAUSE folding step Toppy Style

With its MONTO product range, KRAUSE offers a wide selection of products for this range of applications. The range is aimed at ambitious DIY enthusiasts and tradespeople, but is also suitable for domestic use and is designed for universal and frequent use. The range clearly demonstrates that not all folding steps are the same. Instead of simply offering a single basic design in several variants, KRAUSE differentiates the range according to specific everyday requirements: there are compact models for quick access, mobile solutions for frequently changing locations, comfort-oriented folding steps for longer periods of work at low heights, and versions with easy-care, anodised surfaces for clean indoor work.

Different concepts for different requirements

When it comes to folding steps intended for regular use, it is not just the height and design that determine their practical usefulness. Far more important are questions such as how safe a model is when stepping on and off, how comfortable it feels when standing on it, and how well it integrates into everyday working life. Slip-resistant treads, profiled foot caps, integrated folding locks and sufficiently large standing surfaces are therefore not minor details, but key features for safety and user comfort.

This is precisely where the MONTO range comes in. Some models are deliberately compact and designed for spontaneous use. Others offer greater manoeuvrability or additional comfort when standing. Still others are more akin to a small work platform and are therefore suitable for tasks where the folding steps serve not only as a means of access but also as a temporary workstation.

Compact folding steps for quick access

The compact solutions within the MONTO product range include the double folding step Treppy, the folding step Toppy, the folding step Toppy Style and the compact folding step Picoly. These models are ideal wherever a climbing aid needs to be readily available and can be stored away to save space after use.

The double folding step Treppy is a lightweight and sturdy aluminium step with a large standing surface, sturdy metal hinge joints, an integrated folding lock and slip-resistant foot caps. It has been established for years as a compact aid for many typical household and DIY tasks. New to the range are three additional colours, with which KRAUSE is broadening the model’s appeal and further strengthening its position as a solution suitable for everyday use.

The new folding step Toppy also clearly belongs in this category. As a handy steel folding step, it is designed for a wide range of indoor tasks and combines compact dimensions with practical comfort features. Both the large upper standing surface and the steps measure 300 x 200 millimetres. The steps are fitted with slip-resistant mats, ensuring safe access and egress. It also features slip-resistant foot caps, an integrated folding lock for safe use and a load capacity of up to 150 kilograms. With a depth of just 45 millimetres when folded, the Toppy can be stored in a particularly space-saving manner. This is precisely what makes it a sensible solution for all tasks where a robust, ready-to-use folding step is required.

The compact folding step Picoly complements this range as a particularly space-saving model. It is designed for users who need a step stool that can be set up quickly and stowed away just as easily. Its strength therefore lies less in additional comfort features than in its compact, practical design for everyday use.

Anodised models with practical added value

The anodised versions within the range deserve special attention. This applies to both the double folding step (anodised) Treppy and the new folding step Toppy Style. Their advantage lies not only in their high-quality, clean appearance. Anodised surfaces are also easy to maintain and help keep hands cleaner whilst working. This is particularly practical for indoor tasks, such as renovation work, installation in already fitted-out rooms, or household chores like hanging curtains. It is an advantage wherever tools are regularly handled and stowed away.

The anodised Treppy combines this material advantage with the tried-and-tested design of the compact double-folding step. The Toppy Style takes the basic concept of the handy folding steps and enhances it in specific ways. An anodised finish is also used here. Added to this are a slip-resistant profiled standing surface, an automatic safety catch and a handle that makes it easier to carry. Both models are therefore aimed at users who value not only functionality but also smooth handling, easy maintenance and a high-quality appearance.

Mobility as a key benefit

The double folding step Rolly occupies a special position within the MONTO range of foldings steps. Whilst other models focus primarily on compactness or standing comfort, this model prioritises mobility. Its key feature is the RollStop-System. It allows the folding step to be moved easily and positioned flexibly at different locations without compromising on a secure and stable footing during use.

This is a noticeable advantage, particularly for tasks where the location changes frequently. The Rolly thus adds a model to the range that supports the workflow and does more than just make climbing easier. Available in various colours and two sizes, the Rolly expands the range to a total of 7 variants.

Greater comfort when standing during repetitive tasks

The more frequently a folding step is used and the longer you stand on it, the more important design details become. This is particularly evident in models such as the folding step Toppy XL and the double folding step Treppo. It is no longer just about quick access, but about greater stability when standing and an overall design that is more work-oriented.

The Treppo demonstrates this particularly clearly. With its large upper standing surface,125-millimetre-deep, slip-resistant steps, large, profiled foot caps and a multifunctional folding lock, it is far better suited to repetitive tasks than a classic compact folding step. he greater step depth improves access, whilst the more generous standing surface offers greater comfort and safety for tasks involving multiple steps. The Toppy XL also embodies this development within the range. It offers greater comfort when standing and is suitable for applications where work at height is carried out for slightly longer periods.

From a climbing aid to a compact work platform

The evolution from the traditional folding step to a workplace-oriented solution is most clearly evident in the work platform StepTop. The focus here is no longer solely on climbing, but on a large, stable standing area measuring 1,100 x 300 mm for safe working at low heights. The work platform StepTop thus occupies a unique position within the MONTO range and highlights the functional breadth of the product line.

Clear differentiation within the product range

KRAUSE’s MONTO folding steps demonstrate that compact climbing aids are now designed with much greater attention to detail. The Toppy and Toppy Style are two new models that usefully expand the range of compact indoor folding steps. At the same time, three new colours for the Treppy and a new colour for the Rolly – which is available in two sizes – strengthen the existing product families. Added to this are functional differences that clearly define their practical use in everyday life: slip-resistant mats and foot caps, different standing surfaces, greater step depths, mobile concepts such as the RollStop-System, or the benefits of anodised surfaces.

Within the MONTO range, this results not in a loose collection of individual folding steps, but in a clearly structured range for various working situations in the home, DIY and trade-related applications, as well as in administration, for example. In this area, KRAUSE does not simply offer several sizes, but well-thought-out solutions, each with its own focus – from compact everyday aids to small work platforms.
