Bus maintenance at height - risk and reality in everyday life
Many transport companies are still improvising: Ladders, platforms or mobile scaffolding are used to access the roof. However, these aids often offer neither the necessary stability nor sufficient safety. It is difficult to get to the top, working in confined spaces makes any movement difficult and safe standing is usually not guaranteed. Typical scenarios such as replacing an air conditioning unit after an error message or cleaning a fan after a bus wash illustrate how urgently a fixed, ergonomic access to the vehicle roof is needed - preferably ready for immediate use, flexibly adaptable and equipped with full fall protection.
The new platform - more safety, less effort
The new work platform from KRAUSE is tailored precisely to these requirements. It offers a vertical platform height of 2,700 to 3,700 millimetres, which can be adjusted centrally using a low-maintenance rack and pinion with a hand crank. Alternatively, the height can also be conveniently adjusted using a cordless screwdriver. This flexibility allows work to be carried out on different bus types without the need for conversions or intermediate solutions.
The upper platform surface is made of slip-resistant aluminium flooring with a corrugated structure, while the bottom platform surface is made of chequer plate. Access is via a towed staircase with double
castors and guiding rail. The steps measure a comfortable 600 x 225 millimetres and are also made of corrugated aluminium. A railing with handrail and knee rail on both sides, which secures the entire area, provides safety when ascending and descending.
Once at the top, the large, fold-out guardrail cage offers an extended work surface of around 2,635 x 5,000 millimetres. When folded out, the railings automatically lock into place, which not only saves time, but also ensures maximum operational safety. The foot rails can be lowered to close the gap between the railing and the vehicle roof.
Faster positioning, securely anchored
The entire construction can be moved easily and precisely using four handles positioned at the front. Spindle feet make it possible to compensate for uneven floors, while stable castors with parking brakes ensure a secure footing. A rubberised impact guard on the edge of the platform protects both the platform itself and the vehicle when approaching.
The generous amount of space on the platform, the load capacity of up to 300 kilograms and the ergonomically optimised access solution not only increase working comfort, but also significantly reduce the risk of accidents. Anyone who has to deal with technology on bus roofs on a daily basis will quickly appreciate the new solution - be it when replacing defective components, during maintenance inspections or for regular cleaning work.
Standardised - and yet adaptable
The new working platform is available at short notice as a standardised solution, making it particularly easy to plan and quick to deploy. Nevertheless, it offers variation options for different applications: in addition to the version with a single-sided guardrail cage, a version with a double-sided railing cage is also available. This means that the platform can be optimally adapted to different workshop concepts or structural conditions. Both smaller businesses and larger transport companies benefit from an economical solution that combines state-of-the-art safety and efficiency.
Safety and efficiency on the bus roof - now as standard
With this new, height-adjustable and mobile work platform with railing cage, KRAUSE proves that standardised solutions can certainly meet the individual requirements of everyday workshop work. The combination of safe access, a generous work surface, easy handling and sophisticated technology makes the platform the ideal solution for anyone who regularly works on bus roofs. It not only makes everyday work easier, but also makes an active contribution to accident prevention and the health and safety of personnel - to a degree that was previously often only achievable with customised solutions.
