When steps are used as a workplace, the standing surface is crucial
In day-to-day business operations, there are many routine tasks: these include visual inspections, readjustments, order picking, quick maintenance checks or recurring tasks at fixed points. It is precisely in these situations that a step ladder can quickly become a temporary workstation. In such cases, it is not only important to be able to reach the required height easily, but also how stable and comfortable the standing surface is. The new STABILO Double folding steps are therefore designed so that the step depth and the upper standing surface immediately enhance practical usability. The 135 and 135 XL models feature 135 mm deep premium D-steps, which offer a large standing area and a stable footing when tasks last not just a few seconds but several minutes and are performed regularly. The upper standing platforms are generously sized and define a clear working area: The Double folding step 80 and Double folding step 135 each offer a standing surface of 420 mm × 300 mm, whilst the Double folding step 135 XL offers a standing surface of 600 mm × 300 mm. This means the double folding step can be used not only as a means of access but also as a stable, reliable workplace.
STABILO Double folding steps 135 and 135 XL: high load-bearing capacity, clear professional positioning
In addition to standing comfort and surface area, load-bearing capacity is a key factor in choosing a step stool – particularly where additional weight from tools, materials or equipment is common, or where a higher safety margin is required. The Double folding steps 135 and 135 XL are designed for a maximum load of up to 225 kg. This clearly positions them for demanding operating conditions where steps are frequently moved, regularly used and have to ‘keep up’ with everyday work, without compromising on stability or build quality.
Design features that make all the difference in everyday use
STABILO Double folding steps feature high-strength, bolted aluminium joints and large rail dimensions designed to withstand heavy loads. Corner reinforcements provide additional stability, whilst a secure locking mechanism ensures the folding steps stand firmly and makes them easy to open and close. The connection between the step and the rail is also crucial when a product is in constant use. The STABILO range features a high-strength flanged step/rail connection with a flush, edge-free finish. This is complemented by profiled, reinforced premium D-steps, which enable safe ascent and a comfortable standing position whilst also meeting the requirements of TRBS 2121-2 regarding the use of steps as a workplace.
Slip-resistance and secure footing: step profile and foot caps
A secure footing is ensured not only by the steps themselves, but also by contact with the ground. The steps are profiled and slip-resistant and slip-resistant foot caps (SafetyCap) are also integrated. Overall, the steps therefore feature design characteristics that ensure a stable footing in daily use, particularly in environments where the double folding steps are frequently moved and the ground is not always ideal.
Double folding step 80: a more compact solution for frequent use with a generous standing area
To ensure the range meets not only ‘heavier’ professional requirements but also everyday needs, the Double folding step 80 complements the series as a more compact version. With an upper standing surface of 420 mm × 300 mm, it is designed for quick access and a secure footing during short-term use. Potential areas of application include property maintenance, retail, warehousing and facility management. The 80 mm deep premium D-steps allow for quick positioning without compromising on robust construction or a generous standing surface.
Digital inspection documentation: QR-code pre-installed at the factory
In addition to product performance, the organisation of inspections and documentation is also becoming increasingly important in an operational context. That is why the new STABILO Double folding steps are fitted with a wosatec QR code label at the factory. Using the wosatec web app, the folding steps can be uniquely identified and incorporated into a digital work equipment management system. Inspections, inspection results and documents can be directly assigned to the relevant piece of equipment and accessed centrally, without the need for paper-based records or scattered files. At the same time, the solution automatically sends reminders for inspection dates, enabling those responsible to keep track of inspection intervals and organise inspection processes more easily and transparently in day-to-day operations.
