Project report: Podkarpacka Kolej Aglomeracyjna (PKA)

The Podkarpacka Kolej Aglomeracyjna (PKA) is one of the latest transport investments in the Podkarpackie voivodeship (Poland). As part of this project, a modern service center was built in Rzeszów, where repairs to Polregio rail buses are carried out in comfortable conditions and driver training courses are held on a special simulator. The general contractor for this investment was Inżynieria Rzeszów, a construction company specialising in civil engineering and general contracting for cubic buildings. The new hall required the planning and construction of a complete technical infrastructure to ensure safe and ergonomic working conditions for maintenance staff, especially when working at height.

Key challenges of the project

The biggest challenge of this project was its complexity. The task was to design various customised aluminium structures that all served the same purpose: To enable maintenance work at great heights. However, despite this common purpose, the structures differed significantly in design, dimensions and functionality. Each of these structures had specific requirements that challenged the KRAUSE team in many ways. Starting with design aspects, through the selection and processing of high-quality materials that guarantee stability and durability, to assembly, which is a major challenge for working platforms several dozen meters long, the skills and experience of the KRAUSE team were put to the test.
