Safe access solutions for trucks - customised access technology from KRAUSE for transport, maintenance and repair

In many companies, accessing and working on lorries places high demands on the access technology used. Depending on the intended use, different solutions are required that combine safety, flexibility and ergonomics. In addition to ladders, which are still indispensable in many areas, customised platform and special solutions are becoming increasingly important - especially when specific heights, vehicle contours or changing locations need to be taken into account. KRAUSE offers practice-orientated, individually configurable system solutions for these requirements, which have been tried and tested for many years in a wide range of industries.

Mobile platform stairs with height adjustment

Practical example: Platform stairs for safe loading and unloading

An illustrative example of such a solution can be found in the KRAUSE project for Hydro Building Systems Germany GmbH. A mobile platform staircase was developed there that enables lorries to be loaded and unloaded without a stationary loading ramp. The construction is equipped with an integrated swing door through which forklift trucks can safely load goods onto the platform or pick them up from there. Grating steps ensure maximum slip-resistance, while the ergonomically designed steps with railings on both sides guarantee safe access to the work surface. A central brake reliably fixes the entire unit in place, increasing work safety and efficiency. A particularly convenient feature is that the platform height can be infinitely adjusted using a battery-powered lifting function. It is controlled via a handy control element that can be operated both from the ground and directly from the platform.

Customised side access platforms for maintenance and servicing

Traditional tools often reach their practical limits when it comes to maintenance and servicing work. This is not because they are fundamentally unsuitable, but because the work area has special requirements in terms of footprint, working height and freedom of movement. For these cases, KRAUSE develops height-adjustable side working platforms that can be precisely adapted to the geometry of the respective vehicle. They offer large, slip-resistant working areas, can be adjusted mechanically or electrically in height and have integrated impact protection systems to prevent damage to the vehicle. The platforms are suitable for short-term maintenance work as well as for regular inspection and service work and create a safe working environment for one or more people.

Front working platform for sensitive windscreen replacement

Replacing windscreens on lorries is a particularly sensitive area. Absolute precision, a safe working environment and ergonomic positioning are crucial here. KRAUSE offers a special front working platform for this purpose, which can be driven directly to the front of the vehicle. The platform is designed so that it can be accessed at different heights and offers sufficient space for two people and tools. Thanks to its mobile design and particularly stable construction, it can be used flexibly and fixed securely.

Access solutions for maintenance, loading and seasonal use

For standardised applications, KRAUSE offers a mobile platform staircase in three different widths as an immediately available solution. It is ideal for accessing lorries at working heights of up to 3.0 m. The stable light metal construction is easy to move thanks to two integrated fixed castors and can be flexibly adapted to individual requirements, for example with additional handrails or alternative step profiles for special areas of use.

The KRAUSE ice-free scaffolding system is a practical and safety-relevant addition. It was specially developed for the safe removal of snow and ice from vehicle roofs - a task that is part of the daily routine, especially in winter. Access is via a slip-resistant stairway with grating steps to a continuous work platform. This is secured with an all-round railing and offers sufficient freedom of movement for safe working. Using the optional guardrail extension set, the system can even be made accessible on two levels to allow safe access to the lower areas of the vehicles. The scaffolding can be used all year round, for example for cleaning, maintenance or inspection work, making it ideal for haulage companies, logistics companies or workshops with their own vehicle fleet.

SkyMatic - the telescopic platform ladder for maximum flexibility

For even more flexible applications, KRAUSE offers the SkyMatic, an innovative telescopic platform ladder that combines maximum safety and adaptability. The mobile platform ladder, which can be accessed from one side, has a generous footprint of 600 x 500 mm. It is equipped with an all-round guardrail and a self-closing access barrier, making it safe to work at height. Thanks to the patented ClickMatic-System, the working height can be infinitely adjusted: In the version with 1 x 3 to 1 x 5 rungs, working heights of approx. 2.80 m to 3.30 m can be realised, while the larger model with 1 x 5 to 1 x 9 rungs covers heights of approx. 3.30 m to 4.35 m. A particular advantage is that the ladder can also be set up safely on steps or landings. This is easily possible thanks to the height adjustment from rung to rung on both sides. The SkyMatic can also be folded up to save space and moved easily to the place of use thanks to its integrated castors. This makes it an ideal solution for maintenance and inspection work on lorries, but also in other areas of the company such as logistics centres, workshops, industrial halls or in technical building management, wherever safe and flexible height access is required.

Robust platform ladders for versatile applications

In addition, the platform ladders from KRAUSE offer a robust and versatile solution for safe working at height. Thanks to their sturdy aluminium construction and slip-resistant steps, they ensure safe and comfortable standing even when used for long periods of time. The platform offers sufficient freedom of movement, while an all-round guardrail provides additional safety. Various versions with access from one or both sides allow precise customisation to the respective conditions of use. Platform ladders enable quick and safe access to the driver's cab, superstructures or technical equipment, particularly in the area of lorry maintenance. For work areas with an increased risk of slipping, such as in lorry workshops with oil-contaminated floors, versions with steps and platforms with slip-resistance class R13 are also available. These offer maximum slip-resistance even under demanding conditions. They can also be used in warehouses for order picking or in production facilities for machine operation. Optional accessories such as storage trays, additional handrails or passage barriers make a decisive contribution to safe and ergonomic working. This makes platform ladders a versatile work tool for a wide range of industries.

Customised solutions for every area of application

These examples show how varied the requirements for access solutions around trucks can be, whether for daily loading, repair work or as part of complex maintenance processes. KRAUSE meets these requirements with well thought-out, tried-and-tested solutions that combine safety, ergonomics and efficiency. The combination of decades of experience in customised aluminium construction and close cooperation with users results in systems that are precisely tailored to the real conditions in operation and master the balancing act between flexibility and compliance with standards.
