Safety and health at work - KRAUSE product and service novelties at the industrial safety fair A+A in Düsseldorf

Under the motto "People matter", the A+A, the world's leading trade fair for occupational safety and health, will again present innovative impulses and solutions around safe and healthy working from 24 to 27 October 2023. The maximisation of occupational safety is the daily drive for the employees of KRAUSE to develop ever safer products and thus to improve the everyday working life of the users. A visit as an exhibitor at the A+A from 24 to 27 October 2023 should of course not be missed. In Hall 4, Stand G11, the access technology experts will be presenting several new products and services.

Safely in the height and flexible during use - the new mobile KRAUSE platform ladders

R13 slip resistance for many new ladder models

Ladders are indispensable in many areas, be it in the household, in industry, in administration, in facility management, on construction sites or in agriculture. They allow access to higher areas that would be inaccessible without tools. However, the use of ladders also involves dangers, especially when they are used in damp, oily or even muddy environments. For exactly these applications KRAUSE has extended its range of step ladders by a single-sided and a double-sided ladder with steps of the slip resistance class R13.

The self-cleaning steps and the standing platform with open hole pattern offer maximum safety even in the most adverse conditions and are easy to clean. The profiling prevents dirt, mud, snow or ice from sticking, as the impurities fall through the holes. When climbing the ladders, there is thus a self-cleaning function. In contrast to many other R13 steps on the market with additional rubber or plastic inserts, the KRAUSE R13 step, which is completely made of aluminium, is not subject to any further wear. Efficiency and longevity that users of KRAUSE products appreciate.

The window cleaner ladders, realised as a plug-in system, have also been extended by a variant with anti-slip R13 steps. The newly developed ladder, where also the plug-in connections have been fundamentally revised, is available as a novelty on the KRAUSE exhibition stand for interested visitors to try out.

Safe at heights and flexible in use - the new mobile KRAUSE platform ladders

KRAUSE platform ladders are an indispensable aid in the industry and fulfil manifold demands on working safety and efficiency. The mobile working platforms enable the users to stand safely with free hands for demanding tasks at working heights of up to almost 4 metres. With the aim to always offer the users the best product with a maximum of safety and comfort, the KRAUSE platform ladders have undergone a product relaunch. A significant improvement is the new handrail of the platform ladder. It provides a stepless and stable connection between the stair handrail and the railing handrail of the platform via the KRAUSE-ConnectSystem, which thus does not require the user to reach around. The two- or three-sided platform railing, depending on the platform ladder version, was equipped with a reinforced knee rail. In addition, since the relaunch, an extra-high toe rail has been installed, which at 100 millimetres is 100 percent higher than required by the EN 131-7 standard. The single and double-sided platform ladders are now also available with profiled gratings of slip resistance class R13.

Heavy duty ladders with up to 225 kg load capacity and new accessories

Another novelty in the KRAUSE product portfolio are variants of the single-sided and double-sided accessible step ladders as well as the leaning ladder, which are now available as heavy-duty ladders. These new variants of the ladders established on the market withstand an even higher load due to their construction and offer all already known advantages of the respective ladder. The heavy-duty version of the single-sided step ladder has been additionally equipped with a 40 percent higher safety bracket. This ensures even more safety - also or especially for very tall users.

Users of KRAUSE products can already fall back on a wide range of accessories for ladders. Nevertheless, the Hessians have new items in their luggage again this year that increase safety and make work easier. Among other things, they will present an innovative ladder clamp set for roof racks on the stand, which fixes multi-part ladders quickly and safely on the car roof.

Traffic route and workplace in one ladder

The„Technical Rules for Industrial Safety" (TRBS 2121 Part 2), which have already come into force, are again a topic at the OSH Fair. The entry into force of the TRBS has resulted in some changes for commercial users of ladders. They distinguish between the use of the ladder as a traffic route or as a workplace. If the user remains standing on the ladder during work, it is a workplace for which rung ladders are no longer permitted.

The innovative KRAUSE STABILO +S ladders with steps and rungs combine workplace and traffic route in one ladder. The removable ladder parts of extension and multipurpose ladders can also be removed in the TRBS-compliant version and used independently of the rest of the ladder. In case of changing use, no additional ladder has to be purchased, which has a positive effect on the investment costs. With a KRAUSE TRBS ladder, the user is always on the safe side for all work applications, no matter if traffic route or workplace. KRAUSE STABILO +S ladders do not require any additional tread plates or retrofittable steps, which was particularly important to the designers. The ladders recognisable by the suffix "+S" are available as leaningladders, two-part extension ladders or two-part multipurpose ladders as well as three-part multipurpose ladders. Whichever version the user chooses, he gets maximum safety with minimum weight.

More safety when assembling and disassembling mobile working platforms thanks to KRAUSE GuardMatic-System

The amendment of the standard for mobile working platforms DIN EN 1004-1, which already came into force in 2021, provides for fundamental changes for the assembly and the statics of the scaffolds in addition to the extension of the scope. With the aim to increase the safety of the users of mobile working platforms, KRAUSE has developed the leading guardrail frame GuardMatic, which can always be hooked in comfortably from the platform below, in case of the first platform from the ground. This means that when a platform is first entered during the assembly process, there is always a guardrail all the way around as a fall protection. This also applies to the dismantling of the scaffolding, which also involves an increased risk potential.

The guardrail frames of the GuardMatic-System combine handrail, knee rail and diagonal rail in one module. This reduces the number of individual parts and facilitates transport and logistics of the scaffolding. The 6-point fixing of the GuardMatic-System with the vertical frame ensures maximum stability at height. After use, the diagonal braces can be folded in and locked for transport.

Standards, services and support

As always, the access technology experts are available at the KRAUSE exhibition stand for questions concerning standards, laws and regulations for use. The experts give tips for the annual inspection of access technology, explain who is allowed to carry out the inspections as a "competent person" and offer nationwide seminars for the training of these employees. KRAUSE seminars are individually tailored to the needs of the participants. An extensive programme of practical, compact and online seminars as well as the possibility to hold them directly on site in the companies guarantee maximum seminar success for the employees.

The KRAUSE team at the A+A trade fair stand G11 in Hall 4 is looking forward to many interesting discussions, new contacts and a lively exchange on all topics relevant to occupational safety and health.
