Single-sided step ladders – compact, comfortable and safe
Single-sided step ladders are the classic choice for work that is carried out from one side. Typical areas of application include installation work such as fitting lamps or assembling shelves. Large standing platforms and ergonomically designed safety rails provide support, while integrated storage trays for tools, screws or cables increase efficiency. This prevents users from having to constantly climb up and down. This speeds up work and minimises the risk of accidents.
The deep steps of up to 125 millimetres offer a particularly large standing area, increasing comfort when working and slip resistance. This means that even longer tasks can be carried out in a stable, ergonomic position. Robust rails and slip-resistant foot caps ensure that the ladder stands securely. They prevent slipping on smooth floors such as laminate, screed or tiles and at the same time protect sensitive surfaces.
Double-sided step ladders – maximum flexibility for a wide range of applications
Double-sided step ladders are extremely flexible as they can be used from both sides. When painting walls or cleaning large indoor areas, this means that the ladder needs to be moved much less frequently, resulting in significant time savings.
The DIN EN 131 standard stipulates that double-sided ladders may only be climbed up to the third step or rung from the top in order to ensure the necessary stability. The upper steps remain structurally intact, but may not be used as a working platform. Thanks to their solid construction with profiled steps or optional rung designs, the ladders offer high stability and a secure footing – even at the maximum permissible working height.
R13 slip-resistance and heavy-duty versions for maximum safety
Slip-resistance is a key safety factor when working with access technology, especially in areas where moisture or dirt can occur. KRAUSE offers ladders with steps in slip-resistance class R13, where the open hole pattern ensures self-cleaning. Dirt, dust or liquids fall through the steps, ensuring a secure footing even under demanding conditions. Unlike many commercially available solutions, KRAUSE does not use clip-on rubber or plastic attachments. The steps are made entirely of aluminium, are particularly durable and are not subject to additional wear and tear.
For particularly demanding applications, such as transporting heavy construction elements, heavy-duty versions with a load capacity of up to 225 kilograms are available. Additional struts and a raised safety bar enable even tall users to work safely.
Flexible solutions for stairs and uneven floors
When working on interior fittings, working on stairs or in places with height differences often poses a problem. Conventional ladders quickly reach their limits here. KRAUSE therefore offers telescopic step ladders with rail extensions that can be extended continuously up to a length of 1,150 millimetres. This allows uneven floors or stairs to be safely levelled out. These ladders meet the requirements of TRBS 2121-2 for the use of ladders as a workplace and combine maximum safety with practical adaptability.
Practical examples from everyday construction work
In interior construction and building services engineering, step ladders are everyday tools when short to medium heights need to be reached safely. An electrician installing ceiling spotlights or mounting cable ducts along concrete ceilings usually uses a single-sided step ladder with a platform, which enables a stable and ergonomic working posture even during prolonged use. Building cleaners in office buildings use double-sided versions to clean larger window fronts without having to constantly move the ladder. In drywall construction, on the other hand, telescopic step ladders are used when profiles need to be installed in stairwells or plasterboard panels need to be mounted. In these situations, it becomes clear how useful a climbing system tailored to the specific application is, as it speeds up work processes and ensures that safety requirements are met.
Training, inspection and sustainability
In addition to high-quality products, KRAUSE also supports users and companies in the regular inspection and documentation of their ladders. According to the DGUV and BetrSichV, companies are obliged to have their work equipment regularly inspected by ‘qualified persons’. KRAUSE offers its own inspection services as well as seminars in which employees are trained to become ‘qualified persons’. This ensures that inspection intervals are implemented in accordance with legal requirements and extends the service life of the products – an important contribution to sustainability in the workplace.
The right range for every task
Whether for interior construction, building cleaning or assembly work says Melanie Büttner, Head of Marketing at the KRAUSE Group: KRAUSE's range of step ladders covers all requirements from compactness and flexibility to heavy-duty and special solutions. Thanks to standard-compliant designs, innovative safety details and practical additions such as storage trays or telescopic functions, the ladders are indispensable work equipment for users, inspectors and decision-makers.
